The King and Queen Pageant is perhaps the NAACP’s largest fundraiser of the year.  The event was established in an effort to involve the entire community, not just the branch members, in one of the most important goals of the organization.  That goal is to provide education opportunities through scholarships to college-aged students in the area.  The branches also uses a portion of the funds raised to cover operating expenses so that better service projects can be provided to the community (i.e. back to school and stay-in-school programs).
